AU PAIRS

An Au Pair is a cultural exchange for young people – both male and female – aged 17-27, single with no dependants, who want to improve their level of English whilst living as part of a host family.

They generally work 5 hours a day - 25 hours per week and will also babysit one or two evenings per week. Au Pairs help with childcare including taking the children to and from school, after school care etc and will also help with light household chores including vacuuming, ironing, washing up and simple cooking.

They have their own room and full board plus 2 full days free with additional time for studies and will earn around £55.00 -£60.00 per week. They also have the opportunity to attend a language course. These are generally available at the local college although there may be specific language schools in your area. Au Pairs should be treated as a member of the family.

An Au Pair plus is allowed to work more hours and would be paid accordingly.

Au Pairs are not employees and are therefore not eligible for tax or national insurance contributions.
